Job Summary


The Diversity Programs and Assessment Specialist in the Graduate Division will support the Assistant Dean for Diversity and Learner Success and the Diversity and Outreach Program Manager in designing and leading new programs and projects focused on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and preparing and managing post-project reporting and complex data analysis.

The Diversity Programs and Assessment Specialist will design and deliver novel educational interventions; design and disseminate educational tools/surveys to assess the effectiveness of programmatic, infrastructural goals and policies of educational interventions; and assemble and write reports that guide policy and practice of faculty and staff in developing and implementing educational, programmatic, and infrastructural strategies for improving climate and equity in the research environment.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. Department Description

The UCSF Student Academic Affairs' Business Office oversees financial and fiscal matters across various units: Vice Chancellor's Office, Graduate Division, Office of the Registrar, Student Financial Services, Student Life, Student Health & Counseling, Student Information Systems, Educational Technology Services, International Students & Scholars Office, Office of Career & Professional Development, and Office of Institutional Research. Related to student funding, the Business Office manages $16.8 million to financially support PhD students and $115M in student financial aid resources to award professional students scholarships/grants, fee offsets, loans, and work study assignments.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Post BA/BS degree)
  • Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
  • Analytical / problem-solving skills
  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications: Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
  • Working organizational skills, including skill in effectively coordinating and organizing multiple details. Excellent organizational abilities appropriate to effective calendar management and student and / or volunteer scheduling


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong policy analysis techniques
    • Working knowledge of the campus, its programs, policies, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure
    • Good judgment and effective decision-making and problem resolution skills, including skill to recognize and deal effectively and appropriately with real and potential problem areas, and determine the issues / problems that need to be brought to the attention of higher level staff and / or management
    • Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty, and general public
    • Experience using Zoom or additional education technology tools (e.g. Padlet and PollEverywhere), survey tools (e.g. Qualtrics), and SmartSheet
    • Experience in managing expenses associated with financial budgets
